You Deserve Fulfillment

Burn-out is included in the 11th Revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) as an occupational phenomenon.*

Current statistics on burnout show that the majority of employees suffer from burnout to some degree, leading to physical, emotional, and behavioral symptoms.*  Reports from various sources show anywhere from 67% to 75% of employees have experienced burnout in their careers.  In addition, burned out employees are nearly 3 times as likely to be seeking another job, are 63% more likely to take a sick day, and are 23% more likely to end up in the ER.**

Professional Workplace Coach Lisa Strei has a passion for helping others achieve and maintain life balance, which helps reduce and prevent burnout.  Whether it be educating team members to recognize the symptoms of burnout and ask for help, individual coaching, or facilitating a workshop teaching how to find life balance, Coach Lisa can create a program customized to your organization's needs to give your team the life balance they deserve and so desperately need.

What is Burnout?

We all feel stress at work.  We each manage stress a little differently, but it can become overwhelming.  So, at what point have we reached "burnout"?*

While there is no one diagnosing symptom, according to the World Health Organization, burnout is defined as:  "...a syndrome conceptualized as resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed."

Burnout is characterized by three dimensions:

1) feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion

2) increased mental distance from one’s job, or feelings of negativism or cynicism related to one's job

3) reduced professional efficacy

There are many different effects that burnout has on our bodies.

However, a few common symptoms* include:

  • The inability to relax

  • Physical pain such as headaches, backaches, or stomachaches

  •  A negative attitude towards work that you didn't have before

  • Negative coping mechanisms such as binge eating, increased alcohol consumption, or smoking

  • Anxiety and/or depression

  • Persistent exhaustion or feeling drained

  • Reduction in motivation and/or performance at work

  • Increased reliance on stimulants such as coffee or energy drinks

  • Increased cynicism

  • Increased irritability and impatience

The good news is that burnout can be reversed and prevented altogether if you are aware of and pay attention to the signs.*
